A grey squirrel, alarming on the edge of a deciduous wood in Exmoor National Park.

The squirrel had been active in nearby trees, which I had passed throughout the day during various attempts at capturing corvid vocalisations and general behaviour on the edge of the wood.

It is possible that the squirrel was alarming at my presence, given that I was the only human present throughout most of the afternoon and was actively exploring the nearby area; equally, it could have been caused by another perceived predator/threat such as a buzzard (heard earlier).

Species: Sciurus carolinensis
