Caribbean flamingoes near the Rushy Pen at WWT Slimbridge.

A single wren makes itself heard over a flock of Caribbean flamingos.

Winter wrens (Troglodytes troglodytes) grow to a length of 10cm, weigh just 10g, and have a wingspan of 15cm; by comparison, adult Caribbean flamingos average 1.45m in length, weigh between 2.2kg and 2.8kg, and have a wingspan of 1.5m.

Both microphones were suspended amongst dense vegetation near the lower edge of the flamingo enclosure, close to the Rushy Hide.
